Thingking of website performance

Recently I have been read the book "website performance",and got some ideas for this,I tried to set up one to prove it ,but i need so many technical information,like apache configuration,and the client interact with the server,I think I have some questions need to be resolved.
To be a profient programmer ,I need more and more experience.
I want to share the book with you guys,but i dont kow how to attach it,hope i can get it soon.
